AAMMIQ WETLAND
The Aammiq Wetland is the largest remaining freshwater wetland in Lebanon, a remnant of much more extensive marshes and lakes that once existed in the Bekaa Valley. The Aammiq Wetland and some of the surrounding area is in the process of being declared a National Reserve. The site has been designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA). Notable species include the globally threatened Black-winged Pratincole, Ferruginous Duck, White Pelican and Great Snipe.
